workshop:

PUPPETRY 101: A PUPPET SAMPLER

Lynne & Newspaper

This workshop is perfect for entry level puppeteers, educators, teaching artists and anyone who wants to discover (or rediscover) the essential magic of puppetry. Its emphasis is on bringing inanimate objects to compelling life, and class exercises span the gamut from solo, found object, puppet work, to collaborative, multi person practice.
Participants are invited to:

- Explore four different techniques in four days;

- Gain experience in building a variety of quickly created, deceptively simple, but intriguingly manipulatable puppets;

- Develop, practice and hone performance skills;

- Discuss ideas and techniques for creating assembly and classroom programs that meet curriculum and performing arts standards while touching the hearts of their audiences.
