Bring your creation to life!

For a puppet show to come to life, it must have an audience. But is your puppet show ready to be unleashed upon the world?

Perform you puppet show in the PuppetFest MidWest Open Space and find out!

Each year, PuppetFest MidWest opens up a time slot to puppeteers who would like the opportunity to present their puppet show to a live audience. You have to be seen to be remembered. One of the ways to become known in the puppetry community is for other puppeteers to see your work. If you would like to try out a full-length performance (or any other idea), we've got the Open Space for you. We provide the room, time, electricity and audience - you do the rest.

Open Space performances are held in the Main Street Theater. Minimal lighting and a sound system featuring a microphone, cassette and CD playback are available. Patch cords are also available for mp3 players and laptop computers to run through the festival’s sound system. We can also provide a table and a small puppet stage. You must provide any additional equipment your performance may require.

Each Open Space performance is followed by a two way question and answer period where the audience and the performer can learn more about the presentation.

PuppetFest MidWest has only four Open Space time slots available each year, and they are filled on a first come-first served basis. You must be a registered PuppetFest MidWest festival attendee to perform in the Open Space.

When you register for this year's festival, please let us know if you would like to perform in the Open Space. We will print your publicity in the Festival Registration packet.

In years past, we were treated to Ann and George Neff’s toy theatre performance of “The Cure - A Gothic Melodrama” by Robert Poulter .
Keith Shubert presented his version of "The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari".
We also had a most unusual in-house production of “The Temptation of St. Anthony”.

Who knows what this year will bring?

There are only four slots available, so contact us now and reserve your Open Space!

If you want some stage time and you have a puppet bit or piece that is five minutes or less, we have a time slot for you!

Bits-and-Pieces is the venue to show off your talents or just poke fun at your favorite main-stage performance. You can bring something with you for Bits-and-Pieces or put something together late one night while snacking at the Wild Onion - we're not expecting quality here folks! To sign up for Bits-and-Pieces, track down your Bits-and-Pieces host, Nick Barone, sometime during PuppetFest MidWest and he'll sign you up.
